COME AND MEET US - TUTUSTU MEIHIN
Helena Korpela Theatre pedagogue, director, performer (Master of Arts) Helena was born in Siikajoki in Northern Ostrobothnia, Finland. Helena had her first travel to Palestine in February 2015 and she feels like the journey never ended. Since then she has been involved in the Finnish-Palestinian artist collaboration by i.a. directing, teaching and performing in the Palestinian refugee camp Al'Arroub. She is especially interested in exploring the encounters between people - the moments where we connect, and recede, to connect again. Ville Sandqvist
Actor, director (Doctor of Arts, Theatre and Drama) Ville was born in Helsinki and the most part of his professional activities in theatre and pedagogy has taken place there. Beside Helsinki Ville has worked in many places in Finland and Scandinavia. Ville is very interested in cultural differencies and similarities. He has visited and worked in several countries in Africa. Palestine has been in his interest for the last three years. Hazem Al Sharif
Actor, musician, DJ, drama and theatre director (Bachelor of Arts) Hazem was born in Al Arroub refugee camp in Palestine and studied acting in Drama Academy in Ramallah and Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, Germany. Hazem travelled to Finland in autumn 2015 and worked in the core of the most probably world's first Finnish-Palestinian artist ensemble. He aims to build the cultural bridge between Finland and Palestine even stronger; to create theatre from soul to soul, for hope and for freedom. More about Hazem and about his Nowat Theater.
Nina Numminen Producer (MA in Arts Management) Nina was born in Kokkola in Finland and works in the Finnish-Palestinian artist ensemble as a part-time producer. She produced the piece Ruumiissani kuiskii Al Aroub in Theatre Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki which made the working group, the themes and the practices familiar to her. Working with an international and intercultural approach has been a strong theme for her in many of the performing arts productions she has worked on in the last 10 years. Markus Tapio
Sound designer, composer, sound artist (Bachelor of Arts) Markus was born in Tampere, in the slow part of Finland, and is currently living and working in Helsinki, Finland. He worked in the Finnish-Palestinian artist collective in autumn 2015, and first travelled to Palestine in spring 2016. He strongly believes in art as a meeting platform of humanity without the artificiality of borders. Vilma Vantola
Lighting designer, photographer, visual artist (Bachelor of Arts) Vilma was born in Järvenpää in Southern Finland and is currently living and working in Helsinki, Finland. Vilma participated her first international project Et tu Brute! in Rome, 2009. Since then she has been interested in working with people from different cultural backgrounds. Vilma is constantly exploring all the possibilities in the fields of light and visual arts, finding her own way to bring important and current discussions in sight. |
Ville Repo
Producer (MMus in Arts Management) Ville was born in Kuusankoski, Finland, but spent most of his youth living in a nearby town of Nastola. Now living in Helsinki, he joined this group in February 2017 as a part-time producer. He is an avid traveler with an ongoing attempt to satisfy his curiosity about the world, and has also lived two years in Germany for exchange studies and work. For the last five years he has been working in several projects in the field of performing arts, hoping to make a difference. |
